The King Is NOT Dead!

DJI Phantom 3 Pro
Recently there has been several challengers to the commercial small hobbyist drone market. For the past several years the market has been dominated by DJI. Their most popular models and have been the DJI Inspire and the legendary Phantom models. However, this year there have been new contenders hoping to take DJI's crown. The first contender, the Solo, was released by 3D robotics just a couple of months ago. Check out their amazing teaser trailer HERE.

However, after launch, drone enthusiasts were less than impressed with the Solo. Sales are marginal at best, reviews are laughable, and the drone simply under performed in almost every way. Check out the reviews on Amazon HERE.

XIRO Xplorer Aerial UAV Drone Quadcopter
While DJI mopped the floor with "the Solo", they were still worried about the XIRO Xplorer. The Xplorer had a few key features going for it. One, and don't fool yourself - this matters to consumers, was its looks. It looks like it came straight out of the military with its sharp edges and stealth bomber style. Its photo is to the left.

However, after its release the Xplorer didn't quite get the sales XIRO had hoped for. On the positive side, the reviews from the few drone hobbyists that did buy it, were great. It turns out the Xplorer was a solid performer that does quite well for itself on Amazon reviews. Check out the reviews HERE. However, it appears that the reviewers of this UAS were newer to drone aviation. It remains to be seen if the more experienced pilots make the switch. As of now, a move like that would be years off. The DJI Phantom is still the industry leader by a whopping margin...the king is NOT dead!
